Michael complains to Isabelle that Max isn't leading and that he's going to get them all killed by sitting around doing nothing. Max says the're doing the right thing - keeping their heads low. Isabelle says she hopes so because she's too young to turn into dust.

The skin's thing follows Max around in school. Max tries to go after it,but it disappears. Later, Max goes to the UFO Center and finds out that his boss has sold the place.

Maria says she knows Liz will be back together with Max in no time. Liz reminds her that she walked from Max, Tess and the entire thing. Maria tells her Max doesn't care about Tess and he never will. Before she can say another word, drive by Tess and Max walking together.

Tess tells Max Nasedo tried to prepare her for a day when he wouldn't be around. She'd always thought they'd be 'home' by then. Max asks if she remembers home well. She tells him Nasedo taught her a few memory retrieval techniques. She offers to show Max sometime. They arrive at her house. She tells him she knows how everyone feels about her. Max says it isn't that he dislikes her. She tells him it's okay - Nasedo taught her not to get caught up in being human, because she's not. She reminds Max that he isn't human either. Max tells her it's all he's ever known. Tess says it's not true - he's lived life completely different from this one. A life when he loved her. He tells her he doesn't remember that. She tells him she does. They hear noises coming from inside the house and go inside to check it out. Whoever it was escaped out the back door. Tess says maybe it was just a robber. Max says he doesn't think so. He picks up a piece of shed skin and it disintegrates.

Max takes Tess to Sheriff Valenti's house. The next morning Kyle wakes up and finds Tess sleeping on the sofa. He asks her what she's doing there. She tells him she lives there.

Congresswoman Whitaker asks Liz if there were any messages for her. Liz tells her 'no'. Whitaker confesses that she's waiting for her boyfriend Pierce to call her. Liz tells her Pierce isn't ever coming back. She lies to Whitaker and tells her Pierce left a very cold voice mail message telling her it was over and he was never coming back. Whitaker says she wants to hear the message. Liz tells her she erased it and the message was so cold she wouldn't have wanted to hear it. Whitaker tells her she's a big girl and she can make those decisions herself. Liz apologizes.

Max goes to the UFO Center. He checks out the computer and finds info that says on May 14,2000 a pulse was detected at 4:33pm in Roswell,New Mexico. He notices a device and is about to touch it when the new owner enters the room and warns him not to. He asks Max what he's doing. Max tells him he's just looking around, he's curious about the new equipment brought in. The guy asks if he recognizes what the small device is. Max says 'no'. He asks Max why he was reaching for it. Max says once again he was just curious. The guy tells Max it's over and to go home and not to come back. He's fired.

Max tells Michael and Isabelle about the device he saw at the UFO Center and that the guy is interested in something that happened on May 14th. Isabelle says it's the day they got the message from their mother. Michael reminds them that Nasedo warned them that they might be telling their enemies about where they are by using the orbs. Michael believes that this guy may have murdered Max's boss Milton and may have also murdered Nasedo. Michael want to break into the center and get the orb. Max tells him it's too dangerous, especially if the guy who now claims to own the center is a 'skin'. Of course Michael goes on his own anyway. The new owner of the UFO Center is holding the orb. A blue ring of light beams and hits Michael, sending him crashing to the floor. Michael gets up and runs out of the center before the guy can get to him. Isabelle tells Max they have to do something - they have to kill him. She tells him that they are at war and it's him or them. She says she chooses them.

Max, Isabelle and Michael go to the UFO Center. Max tells them they can't kill the guy - it's just not them. Max says he's going to face him and find out the truth. Michael asks what will he do if he kills him. Max says if he dies, then Michael can be the fearless leader.

Max asks him what he's doing in Roswell. He tells Max he's not there to answer his questions. Max asks if he's there because of what happened on May 14th. Max just spits it out and asks if he's one of them. He tells Max he is - he thought Max was like him, but he wasn't sure. Max asks why he's here and what he wants. He tells Max he wants what they all want - to reestablish contact. He asks max if he remembers anything. Max says 'no'. He tells Max about the time he was abducted and strange things were done to him. Before his abduction he'd been told by doctors that he had one year to live - that he was dying from cancer. After his abduction the cancer was gone, so he wants to reestablish contact. He bought the communicator device from someone who claimed it was a genuine alien artifact. One day, May 14 it appeared to be sending or receiving a signal. He had the signal tracked and it lead him to Roswell. He asks Max to tell him his abduction story. Max smiles. The 'skin' thing watches from across the street as Max, Michael and Isabelle leave the UFO Center.

Later at the Crashdown, Alex asks where the guy got the money to buy out Milton. Isabelle tells him he helped take an internet startup company public. Max chimes in and says he became an instant millionaire - he bought out Milton for Three hundered million dollars. He explained that the device that sent out the signal that knocked Michael down went off by itself - the guy was just holding it.

Kyle tells Tess he's moved all of his stuff out of his room. Since his father says Tess will be livng there he tells her she can have his room and he'll sleep on the sofa or something.

The new crashdown waitress flirts with Michael. Maria interrupts their conversation and tells her table 4 is waiting for their order.

Max tells Liz that she thinks he's going to forget about her or get over it, but he's not. He doesn't care about his destiny,his planet or anything else - he just cares about her. He tells her he's coming for her. Maria tells her Max is a great man. Max rejoins Tess at the table. She reminds him that their problems aren't over. Whoever killed Nasedo is still out there and is probably very close.

The new waitress goes into the bathroom and scratches her neck. She pulls off a layer of skin off her face. It's dry and flakey. She flushes it down the toilet.
