Max and Tess meet up with the dupes and are taken to their home beneath the subway. Tess asks why their protector would bring them to New York and put them in the sewers. Isabel's dupe asks why she's asking so many questions. Tess explains that their protector, Nasedo, raised her.

Isabel complains to Michael that Max didn't even say goodbye. Their parents think he's gone camping and that he just didn't want to spend Thanksgiving with them.

Maria tells Liz that there's a vicious rumor that she and Kyle slept together. Liz tells her it's true. Maria can't believe that Liz lost her virginity to Kyle and is upset that Liz didn't tell her. Liz lies and tells her she was upset about Max and it just happened - she didn't want to talk about it.

Liz finds Tess's dupe in the alley behind the Crash Down. She invites her inside .

Max is tested to prove he's really the king. The alien embassary far away on some other planet reaches out with his mind and takes over a human man on earth. The human walks around like a puppet, like he's been possessed and does whatever the alien wants him to do. The human never knows what happened to him - he thinks he's been abducted.

Liz calls Maria at 3am and says she needs to talk to her. Liz tells her about how future Max came to get her to help present day Max fall out of love with her and that she and Kyle only made it look like they slept together. Liz apologizes to Maria for lying to her and Maria apologizes for being angry with Liz . She tells Liz she should have known it was an alien thing. Maria asks Liz if she's still a virgin. Liz says she is. They give one another a hi-five.

Michael's dupe explains to Max that the embassary knew he was the real deal because the has the royal seal (a v-shaped diagram of the 5 worlds of their star system) stenciled on his brain. The rulers will possess and use humans as representatives. Tess asks why they don't just come in person. Michael's dupe talks to her as if she has no intelligence. He explains that space is very big and it's difficult to get places - they don't just zip around like on Star Trek. No one's coming back in person unless there's a good reason - like to take them home. He says they can go home if Max cuts a deal that will bring peace to their world. Max and Tess never thought they'd have a chance to go home. They ask about Michael, Isabel and Tess's dupe. Isabel's dupe says they want the royal four, not seven. Max tells them he's not Leaving Michael and Isabel behind. Isabel's dupe asks if he's ever head of the granolith. She says their protector told them it's like some kind of holygrail that the people of their world worship. Max lies and says he's never heard of it.

Tess's dupe has nightmares about the murder of Max's dupe. She tells Liz that she could of stopped it. She tells Liz she can't talk about what happened. Liz comments that she must have really loved him. She says she did, but she doesn't think he ever felt the same for her. She says he seemed to be waiting for someone else to walk into his life. She asks Liz how she found out about Max. Liz tells her about how she was shot and Max brought her back to life. Tess's dupe gives Liz a weird look.

Max calls Isabel from a pay phone in New York. He tells her about their possible chance to go home to their planet. He asks her if she wants to go. It doesn't seem real to her and she can't imagine just all of a sudden leaving earth. It seems crazy. Max tells her that he needs and answer from both her and Michael. She asks how he can just leave with 'those people' without discussing it with her and Michael and then just expect her to make a decision like that. He says he guesses he's just being a 'self-indulgent little boy again.' Isabel has no idea what he's talking about. He tells her he doesn't want to rehash the entire thing. He tells her that hearing the real story about Valandra from her dupe wasn't fair. She tells him she's sorry. Max says she should have told him that the first time she confronted her about it. Isabel is confused. He tells her he'll talk to her after the summit. Later Isabel figures out that her dupe impersonated her. She asks Tess's dupe the reason why. She pretends not to know. Liz tells her that Max is in danger and she doesn't want to loose him - she loves him. Tess's dupe fesses up and tells them Max's dupe was murdered and they're probably going to do the same to Max. Isabel says they've got to warn Max. Liz asks if Isabel if she can dream walk the message to Max. Isabel tries but is unsuccessful. She says Max is too far away. Tess's dupe says Liz can get the message to Max. Liz wonders how she can - she has no special gifts. Tess's dupe explains that Liz has been changed - if Max brought her back, she's different now. Isabel tells Liz that she knows her brother and if there's one voice he'll hear no matter where he is - it's Liz's. She tells Liz to take her hand.

Isabel's dupe conspires with Nicholas to get Max to give back the granolith. He tells her there will be a public execution if Max takes the deal and if he doesn't, Kavar still wants him dead.

Brodie, the new UFO Center owner is 'abducted' - used by an alien to represent one of the 5 worlds. Nicholas is there to represent Kavar, the current leader. Three others are present at the summit representing the other planets. Nicholas makes a comment about Tess being Max's genocidal girlfriend- she wiped out all of the skins except Nicholas in the previous episode. He asks her if she's killed anyone today. Tess tells him the day isn't over. He tells Max that Kavar will allow the royal four to return home under a few conditions. Max will be king in name only - Kavar will still rule. Max must tell his followers to lay down their weapons and accept Kavar as leader. Most importantly Max must return the granolith. After thinking on it for about 20 minutes( that' all the time he was allotted ) Max decides that he doesn't trust Nicholas or the dupes. Liz's warning before he left Roswell about the granolith being dangerous in the wrong hands, was a huge part in his decision.. Tess supports his decision . She believes he was a great king in their other life. Max tells everyone that the granolith was entrusted to him and he refuses to let them have it. let them have it. Everyone is angry and leaves the summit.

Isabel and Michael's dupes are angry that Max turned down the offer. Michael's dupe asks Max if he thinks he's 'the man' or something. Max tells him he is 'the man' They're walking down the street when Isabel's dupe attempts to make something fall on Max to crush him. Michael's dupe grabs Tess and covers her mouth with his hand so that she can't speak. Liz uses her newly discovered gift and with Isabel's help appears across the street and yells for him to get out of the way. Max can't believe Liz is there. She's yelling and motioning for him to move, he can't hear her. He walks toward her to get a closer look and avoids being crushed to death. In an instant, Liz is gone and so is Tess. Max finds her sitting in the middle of a dark room. He asks if she's okay. Tess says she doesn't know. She explains they tried to get into her head to find out the location of the granolith and she fought back. Max asks her how she fought back. Tess tells him she doesn't know. He asks where they are now. Tess says she doesn't know, however, she's ready to go home to Roswell. Max says 'okay'and hugs her

Isabel asks what made Max decline the deal. He says he couldn't leave her and Michael behind. He tells her she's his sister - Isabel - Valandra - it doesn't matter what her name is. He tells her that she comes first - always. She thanks him. They hug.

Tess's dupe leaves. Liz wishes her good luck.

Liz looks at herself in the mirror. She tells Max she keeps looking for some sort of change. He holds up two fingers behind her head. Liz laughs. Max smiles. She tells him it's nice to see him smile again. He thanks her for saving his life. She tells him it makes them even. He tells her he'd like to start fresh with their friendship - he misses it. She tells him she misses it too. He tells her there's one thing he has to ask and he'll never ask it again. He asks if she slept with Kyle. She nods 'yes', but only slightly. He says 'okay' and tells her he'll see her tomorrow.
