Liz tells Maria that the building in the photograph of Alex and his supposed girlfriend Leanna, was torn down in 1994. Alex was 10 years old in 1994. Maria says she's creeped out. Liz says Leanna could just be some girl put into the photos just like the building. Maria says she could be an alien killer. Maria asks Liz where Alex was if he never went to Sweden. Liz tells Maria that she really needs her help to find out who murdered Alex.

Max tells Isabel that he's had sex with Tess. He tells her that he's feeling a little weird. Isabel claps her hands and sarcastically congratulates Max on losing his virginity. She tells him she doesn't care about his morning after anxieties or his delicate feelings because hers certainly don't matter to him.

Maria logs into her e-mail account and finds an e-mail sent by Alex while he was supposedly in Sweden. She takes it to a computer geek at school to find out where Alex was when he sent the e-mail.

Tess tells Max she's pregnant. Max is stunned and speechless. Later, Tess stops by to see Tess and ask her about her mind control powers and how they work. Max asks her what she's doing there. Max accuses Liz of blaming Tess for Alex's murder. He asks her if that's her new theory. Liz says it isn't. Max tells Liz to go ahead and ask the questions she wants to ask. Liz tells Tess they'll talk later. Max asks Tess where she was the night Alex died. Kyle says Tess was with him watching the movie 'Gladiator' on video. Max tells Liz Tess has a alibi from one of her own (a human). Liz leaves.

Maria tells Liz that the e-mails where sent from right there in New Mexico from a dorm room in the University of New Mexico in Las Cruces. Liz and Maria decide to go to Las Cruces. Michael asks where they're going. Liz lies and tells him they're going to Santa Fe to see Alex's grandmother. She couldn't make it to the funeral, so they're having a memorial service. Liz waits for Maria in the car. Michael asks Maria where they're really going. He assures her that he won't tell Max. He says he needs to know because if where they're going turns out to be dangerous, he's going to be there to protect her. She reveals that they're going to Las Cruces and warns him that if Liz finds out she told him, she'll lose Liz as a friend. Michael tells Maria to call him at the first sign of danger.

Kyle encourages Isabel to get back at Max by using her powers to play pranks on him. Max goes with Michael to pick up his yearbook. Max looks for his photo and in it's place is a photo of a green alien above his name. He looks up and sees Isabel and Kyle across the hall laughing at him. Later, on the basketball court, Max tells Michael that things have advanced between him and Tess. Michael asks how far. Max says as far as they can possibly advance. Max says they had hot alien sex. Michael asks how it was. Max tells him it's probably a lot like human sex, except for the point of culmination. Max explains that you kind of feel like you're floating and this hot electric energy coarses through your body. Michael asks how long it lasts. Max says about an hour. Max tells him there's been a complication. Michael jokingly asks if its alien herpes. He tries to figure out what's happened. He says clearly Max didn't have any performance problems and he'd be too smart to get Tess pregnant. Max is quiet. Michael asks Max if he got Tess pregnant. Max is still silent. Michael says, 'Holy crap!' Max tells Michael that Tess says it's growing fast. He tells Michael that Nasedo says alien pregnancies only take about a month. Michael asks what's inside her - is it human or alien. Max says it's not like they can go and get a sonogram. Michael asks if he's going to go through with it. Max says it's not like he has a choice - it's out of his hands. He says he can't tell Tess what to do. Michael asks why not - he's the king. Max reminds him that it makes Tess the queen. Michael says if this thing comes out green with 4 fingers and 3 eyes, it puts a major crimp in their hide in plain sight strategy. Max asks what he suggests. Michael tells Max he needs to point out to Tess that this could screw up all of their lives - that this affects all of them.

Liz and Maria check out the dorm room the e-mails were sent from . The room is empty. A guy enters the room and asks if he can help them with anything. They ask if he knew anything about the guy who used to live there. The guy says 'Ray' never left his room. He never even opened the door, except when he had Thai food delivered for breakfast lunch and dinner. He says he did see him once around 4am on his way home from a party. 'Ray' was coming from the Litvak building. The guy says 'Ray' was about 5 feet away from him and didn't even acknowledge his presence. Liz asks what's in the Litvak building. The guy says the university has this incredible super computer.

Max takes Tess to the pod chamber and shows her the book with the symbols. He tells her if they knew how to read it, it would probably answer all of their questions. Tess asks what answers they're looking for. Max says they need to know exactly what they're getting themselves into. He tells her he fully accepts that it's his child too. He tells her he'll respect whatever she decides. Tess tells him she's going to have the baby. Max says ok. Max walks away. Tess sarcasticallly says, 'Thanks for your support.' Max says 'I told you I would stand by you.' She says he doesn't sound so excited about it. Max explains that his life changed overnight. He says he thinks he's entitled to get a little freaked. She says she's freaked out by the whole thing too. Tess wimpers in pain. Max asks what's wrong. Tess says it's the baby. A small glowing hand print appears on her bulging stomach. Max puts his hand on her stomach over the tiny hand print. Max begins to hyperventilate. He removes his hand from her belly and tells her he saw the baby. Max smiles and tells Tess it's a boy.

Walking across the university campus, Liz tells Maria they are so close to figuring this all out. There's an outdoor concert. Maria screams. It's Nelly Furtado singing the bird song. She asks Liz if they can stay for one song. They sing along and dance. Liz notices Leanna in the crowd and points her out to Maria. Maria doesn't believe it's her. She reaches into her purse and pulls out the photo of Alex and Leanna. She looks at the photo and confirm it's the girl from Sweden. Maria wonders what the hell she's doing in Las Cruces. Liz tells Maria they have to go and talk to her. Maria tells her it's getting way too dangerous. The girl leaves and Maria and Liz follow her. They run to catch up with her, but she gets on a bus and is gone. Michael appears and tells them he wants to know everything.

The next day in school, Kyle sets off the fire alarm. The teacher tells them it's a fire drill and they should exit in an orderly fashion. Max tries to move, but his feet are stuck to the floor. Kyle laughs and tells Isabel the prank is classic. Max is the last student in the class. The teacher asks if he'll be joining the rest of the class. Max says he's coming, but is still unable to move. The teacher tells Max that he doesn't find it amusing that he's still at his desk - you can never be certain when a fire drill is an actual emergency. Isabel stands in the doorway of the classroom. Max gives her knowing , annoyed look. Isabel stares coldly back at Max.

Percy, a computer guy at the university tells Liz that the greatest potential of the super computers is in the field of cryptography. He tells her that in theory, a quantum computer could break just about any code. He tells Liz that 'Ray' was definitely trying to decode something major. Michael and Maria come to the computer lab to tell Liz they found Leanna's dorm room. Liz tells them they shouldn't be in the lab and that she'll meet them outside. Michael says he has a better idea. He tells Liz they should leave and go back to Roswell because things area becoming too dangerous. Michael grabs Liz's wrist and tells her that staying isn't an option. He tells her she's going back to Roswell with him. Liz says they're too close to the truth and she's not leaving. Percy tells Liz that she found 'Ray's' source material. He says it's pretty strange stuff. He says it's some kind of language - it looks kind of Native American. They all go over to the computer to check it out. Michael has flashes of himself in the desert surrounded by the symbols. He's seen them before. Michael asks where the stuff on the computer came from. She tells him it's what Alex was working on when he was at the university. They find out that he used the computer to translate the language from the book to english. Percy tells them that unfortunately, he(Ray/Alex) deleted all of the results. He tells them that the last day 'Ray' was there, he created a huge text file and the results were e-mailed to a 'j.coleman.' Liz says he e-mailed them to Lianna.

Max checks out ads in the newspaper. He tells Tess that if they're going to have a baby, they should get a place of their own. She tells him she wants to start planning their future, she just wonders if their future is going to be there in Roswell. Max asks if she wants to go someplace else. She tells him she always thought the ultimate plan was to go home - their real home. Max says it is - someday. Max tells her they have enough to deal with on Earth. Max looks at the book that holds all of the answers to their questions. Tess goes to the kitchen to get some soda. She screams and glasses crash to the floor and shatter. Max goes to see if she's okay. Tess is lying on the floor holding her stomach. Max kneels down beside her and puts his hand on her stomach. He sees the baby tossing and turning inside of her. He gasps and backs away from Tess. She asks what's wrong with the baby. Max says the baby is sick - it's the atmosphere. Earth is poisoning him. He tells her their son is dying. Later, Tess is asleep in her bed. Max wipes perspiration from her forehead with a cloth. She wakes up and he asks her how she feels. She tells him she's okay now. She asks him how things are going with the book. Max tells her he as no idea how to read it. He says he feels like he's letting her down. She tells him he's the one person she knows she can count on in this world. She tells him she has faith in him - she always has. Max leans over and kisses her forehead. He says that when she fell earlier he realized that he could lose her. He says he'd thought of her as someone who'd always wait for him, forever. He apologizes for taking her for granted.

Liz, Maria, and Michael go to Jennifer's(Leanna) dorm room. Her roommate tells them she isn't there - she had to go home because her mom is sick in the hospital. Maria asks the roommate if Jennifer mentioned any notes from physics class that she said Maria could borrow. The roommate says Jennifer never mentioned anything about physics notes. Liz says they're probably in her room. She and Michael go to Jennifer's room while Maria talks to the roommate. They're in and out so fast, the roommate hardly has time to object. Once outside they look through the mail they've stolen. They find a magazine renewal notice, a credit card application,bank statement and something from Open Sky Property Management. It's a bill for rent on a property outside Las Cruces. They drive to the property. It's old and abandoned. Liz asks why anyone would rent a place like that. Michael says it's because they've got something to hide. Liz finds a laptop computer and printer set up in a room. It's protected by a triangle shaped alarm that begins to beep when they enter the room. Maria alerts Liz to the beeping alarm. Michael comes in and uses his powers to throw it outside before it blows up. Liz thanks him. Maria asks what it was. Michael says he's never seen anything like it. Liz finds the text translation of the book on the computer. Michael finds a long clear crystal in a box. Maria asks him what it is. He tells her he doesn't know. Liz prints the pages and hands them to Michael. Maria tells him now he has all of the answers.

Later, Max takes out the garbage. He has some difficulty putting the garbage bags into the can. It falls over and garbage falls on the ground. He bends to pick it up and the can begins to fall again. Max kicks it to keep it from hitting the ground and then continues to kick with rage causing garbage to fall all over the ground. He picks up other cans and knocks them over and throws the lids to the ground. He falls to the ground and cries. Isabel comes outside to see what's going on. She asks him if he's okay. Max tells her that Tess is pregnant and the baby is dying because it can't live in this atmosphere. He tells her he doesn't know what to do and that he's scared He feels irresponsible and stupid. He says he can't tell their parents - what would he say to them? They don't even know who he really is. He tells Isabel he knows it's their destiny... He asks her what he's going to do. She tells him to come with her and takes him to the park. She tells him she had no idea what he'd been going through. She tells him her problems are nothing compared to his. He disagrees and tells her that her problems are important too - her life is important. He apologizes for the way he treated her. Isabel assures him they'll figure something out for him , Tess, and they baby. She asks if he knows if it's a boy or a girl. He tells her it's a boy. She hugs him.

Michael tells Max that he's been lying to him about the Maria and Liz investigation. He tells him it was worth it. He hands the translation to the book to Max and the crystal to Isabel. He tells them it's everything they've been looking for. Isabel asks Max what the translation says. Max tells her it's the way home. They can go home.
